The 2025 cidb Postgraduate Conference brings together leading experts and researchers to explore innovations in the built environment.
The programme features panel discussions, research presentations, and networking opportunities, providing a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration. The event will conclude with an award ceremony recognising outstanding research contributions.

Prof Ayodeji Emmanuel Oke
Prof Ayodeji Emmanuel Oke is an Associate Professor and Head of the Quantity Surveying Department at the Federal University of Technology Akure, Nigeria. A specialist in Sustainable Infrastructure Management, he holds a PhD in Quantity Surveying and has authored over 500 publications, earning recognition among the top 2% most-cited scientists globally.
He has received several prestigious awards, including the 2016 Emerald Literati Award and the 2023 Best Researcher Award at his university. Actively engaged in international research collaborations, he also serves as a reviewer for leading academic journals.
A registered Quantity Surveyor, Prof Oke is a corporate member of multiple professional bodies, including the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors and the Association of South African Quantity Surveyors. He is also a Research Fellow at the University of Johannesburg, contributing to the advancement of the built environment sector.
Prof Claudia Loggia
Prof Claudia Loggia is an Associate Professor in Housing and Academic Leader for Housing and Planning at the School of Built Environment & Development Studies, University of KwaZulu-Natal. She holds a PhD in Building Engineering and an MEng from Cagliari University, Italy.
With extensive experience in transdisciplinary research and consultancy, her work focuses on energy-efficient building design, green infrastructure, sustainable urban regeneration, and informal settlement upgrading. She has led major research projects, including the ISULABANTU project on community-led upgrading and the Building Urban Resilience for Self-Reliance in African Cities initiative.
Prof Loggia collaborates with government, NGOs, and communities on resilience and sustainability projects, such as the uMngeni Resilience Project. A Green Star SA Accredited Professional and an NRF C-rated researcher, she continues to drive impactful change in urban development and housing.
Mr Lufuno Ratsiku
Mr Lufuno Ratsiku is the President of the South African Council for the Projects and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP) and a Non-Executive Director at Johannesburg City Power. With a master’s degree in Construction Management and 18 years of experience across the public and private sectors, he is a recognised leader in project execution, capacity development, and industry transformation.
Passionate about governance, social cohesion, and professional growth, Lufuno has a strong track record of uniting stakeholders to drive meaningful change. His expertise spans construction cost management, strategic project execution, and professional development.
In addition to his leadership roles, he lectures in construction project management, contributes to research, and serves on the board of South Africa’s second-largest pension fund. Committed to transparency and progress, he continues to shape the Built Environment sector with impactful contributions.
Prof Emmanuel Adinyira
Prof Emmanuel Adinyira is a leading expert in Construction Project Management and the immediate past Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Built Environment at KNUST, Ghana. As Ghana’s youngest professor in his field, he specialises in project health, safety, environment, risk, and quality management.
He holds a PhD in Building Technology and has extensive industry and research experience. A two-time Brown International Advanced Research Institute (BIARI) fellow, he has also earned certifications in occupational health and safety, teaching innovations, and project management.
Prof Adinyira has chaired international conferences, served on key committees, and collaborated on global research projects. With over 250 publications and 6,000+ citations, he has supervised numerous PhDs and MPhils, shaping the next generation of industry leaders. A fellow of multiple professional bodies, he remains dedicated to advancing research, education, and best practices in construction management.
Dr Gilberte Lincoln
Dr Gilberte Lincoln is a seasoned Town and Regional Planner with over 33 years of experience across the public, private and NGO sectors. Passionate about education, she specialises in urban and regional development, focusing on capacity building in the planning profession.
She holds a BA and a Master of Town and Regional Planning (MTRP) from the University of Natal, as well as a PhD from the Durban University of Technology (DUT). As an educator, she teaches economics and planning-related subjects while supervising research.
Dr Lincoln’s expertise spans regional planning, sustainable development, inclusive livelihoods, and the circular economy. Through her research, teaching and professional practice, she remains dedicated to shaping sustainable and inclusive cities for the future.
Dr Patience Tunji-Olayeni
Dr Patience Tunji-Olayeni is a distinguished Quantity Surveyor and Senior Lecturer at Covenant University, Nigeria. She is a Senior Associate Research Fellow at the University of Johannesburg and a Visiting Scholar at Ruhr West University, Germany. With expertise in construction education, management, sustainability, and gender in construction, she has over 100 peer-reviewed publications and an edited book.
A recipient of the Covenant University Chancellor’s Award for Exceptional Research and the UFS Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship, she leads Grants, Scholarships, and Fellowships at CUCRID. She also chairs RCE Ogun, a UN-accredited sustainability hub, and is a GLOBE Signatory advocating for sustainability in the built environment.
As the Convener of Women Academics in Construction (WAiC), Dr Tunji-Olayeni mentors women in academia and spearheads the COIL Project between Covenant University and Ruhr West University. Passionate about research and mentorship, she is dedicated to shaping the next generation of built environment scholars in Africa.
cidb 12th Postgraduate Conference
The 12th cidb Postgraduate Conference will take place from 10 to 12 July 2022 at the International Convention Centre in East London, South Africa.
The conference aims to provide an opportunity to review and create knowledge on achieving a sustainable construction industry through innovation and digitalisation, consequently highlighting the resulting processes and practices needed in delivering and operating sustainable construction projects more effectively and efficiently by emphasising innovation and digitalisation.
