Pre-training need assessment (APL) for Gr 2 – 6

Overview

APL stands for Assessment of Prior Learning. A significant proportion of contractors on the cidb Register of Contractors are classified as emerging and still needing to be developed to realise their potential. Contractors that undergo APL will in time receive cidb top-up training to close identified gaps.

APL aims to align training and development to the specific needs of the contractor, making intervention relevant, targeted and meaningful. It recognises all prior learning and capability regardless of qualifications. This enables real development needs and gaps to be established, whilst recognising the contractor’s prior experience and knowledge. The benchmark for APL is the cidb Competence Standard which forms part of the regulated cidb B.U.I.L.D Programme. APL is 100% free! The cidb bears all the costs.
