Unlocking Infrastructure Delivery for South Africa | Raising Construction Industry Performance
South Africa stands at a critical crossroads. While infrastructure is the backbone of development, powering economies, connecting communities, and enabling basic services, the pace and quality of delivery has too often fallen short. Projects stall. Budgets go unspent. Communities wait.
The 2025 National Construction Summit, hosted by the Construction Industry Development Board (cidb) in partnership with the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure (DPWI), is more than just a gathering. It is a national call to action. Under the leadership of Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, Dean Macpherson, a new energy is sweeping through the sector – one that prioritises delivery, accountability, ethical leadership, and performance. DPWI’s commitment to cutting red tape, restoring trust in public infrastructure programmes, and enabling the construction sector to thrive signals a vital shift in how we approach infrastructure as a nation.
This year’s theme: “Unlocking Infrastructure Delivery for South Africa”, is both a reflection and a rallying point. It reflects the collective will to do better, and the pressing need to turn plans into progress, and policies into projects.
