cidb Names Inba Thumbiran as Acting CEO
Ms Inba Thumbiran has been named by the Board as Acting Chief Executive Officer of the cidb. This follows departure of former CEO, Mzwandile Sokupa on 27 February, 2015, after a fourteen months stint at the helm of the cidb. Ms Inba Thumbiran has been appointed as interim CEO until further notice.
Invitation for Nominations to the cidb National Stakeholder Forum
The Construction Industry Development Board (cidb) hereby invites nominations of industry stakeholders to serve on the cidb National Stakeholder Forum for the period 2015 to 2017. The purpose of the National Stakeholder Forum is to advise the Minister of Public Works and the cidb Board on matters affecting construction industry development in accordance with the CIDB Act No 38 of 2000. The cidb is obligated by the Act to constitute the Forum at least once every two years, and to convene a meeting of the Forum with the Minister at least once a year. Nominations must be sent by e.mail to: firstname.lastname@example.org no later than 06 March 2015, and must be accompanied by a CV of the nominee, as well as a short motivation. Notice of Temporary Office Closure
Notice is hereby given of temporary office closure of the cidb Head Office and the Gauteng Provincial Office on the 30th January 2015. This is due to the strategic session that will be attended by all staff members. All other provincial offices are not affected by this closure and will be open as usual.
Untimely Death of cidb Board Member and Colleague, Ms Nomsa Jacobs-Skweyiya
It is with great sadness that the Board of the cidb announces the untimely death of a colleague, friend, mentor and a leader, Ms Nomsa Jacobs-Skweyiya. Ms Skweyiya was recently appointed to the cidb Board by the Minister of Public Works, Minister Thulas Nxesi, where she served from August 2014, until her death on 14 December 2014. She will be sorely missed. The cidb will host a memorial service in Ms Skweyiya’s honour in Cape Town on 23 December 2014 from 10h00. The venue of the memorial service will be confirmed.
In warm appreciation of our association and interaction during the past year, we extend our very best wishes for a happy holiday season. Please note that the cidb will be closed for this holiday season between 24 December 2014 and 05 January 2015.
The cidb Launches its Second 5 Year Review
The second 5 Year Review of the cidb was launched on 14 September 2014 by the Minister of Public Works, Honourable Thulas Nxesi. The Review will focus on efficiency and effectiveness of the cidb, the quality of the cidb Programmes in terms of international best practice as well as reviewing the performance of the cidb in relation to its mandate and objects as stated in the cidb Act, Act 38 of 2000.
