Inbrief Publications are short documents providing answers to common issues relevant to cidb stakeholders. The first batch focus on Regulations amended in December 2007 and also provide brief explanations of cidb registration and new developments significant to contractors and construction clients.
The registration process for Grade 1 contractors has been changed to expedite registration. Contractors wanting to register for Grade 1 can do so at the different Construction Contact Centres.
Cidb registration certificates are no longer issued to grade 1 registered contractors, other grades 2-9 will follow suite within the near future. This new practice eliminates fraud and ensures that clients are exposed to the contractor’s current and valid information through the website.
The cidb provides a checklist of requirements necessary to ensure compliant registration by contractors. Registration application forms that are correctly completed ensure that contractors are not only promptly registered but also correctly grading for tendering purposes.
Contractors must register on the cidb Register of Contractors in order to be considered for awarding construction work contracts within the public sector.
The register of contractors is a representation of capabilities of contractors used for procurement reasons, it also reduces risk for both the contractor and client.
